The APOKYN Circle of Care™

The APOKYN Circle of Care is a unique program designed to assist you, your staff, your patients, and their care partners in the use of APOKYN® for the acute, intermittent treatment of hypomobility, off episodes (end-of-dose wearing-off and unpredictable on-off episodes) associated with advanced Parkinson's disease.

  • Offering patient support to help ensure proper dosing and administration of APOKYN
  • Empowering patients to take control during off episodes

Benefits for You and Your Staff
The APOKYN Circle of Care benefits healthcare professionals by:
  • Providing you and your patients with ready access to information about APOKYN via the APOKYN Call Center
  • Enabling you to offer added patient support without added cost or time commitments and ensure continuity of care through Home Healthcare visits to APOKYN users (at no cost to patients, care partners, or their healthcare providers)

APOKYN Call Center 1-877-7APOKYN (1‑877‑727‑6596)
  • All APOKYN Call Center services are offered Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM Eastern Time
  • After-hours and weekend voice mail and return call service are available
    • Calls should be returned within 1 business day

Medical and Drug Information (Option 1)
  • Ready reference to information for healthcare providers about APOKYN and its administration

Nurse Call Center Inbound Services (Option 2)
  • Answers to frequently asked questions about APOKYN for patients and care partners
  • Processing of healthcare professional requests for Home Healthcare visits
  • Direct access to additional services, such as specialty pharmacy providers

Nurse Call Center Outbound Services (Option 2)
Available to patients who have self-enrolled in the APOKYN Circle of Care.
  • General patient follow-up
    • Confirm start of APOKYN
    • Reinforce training received at your office
    • Encourage compliance
    • Address any questions or concerns
  • Ongoing information and support through periodic calls

Patients who join the APOKYN Circle of Care receive additional services that enable them to maximize their disease management and get optimal benefit from APOKYN.
  • Follow-up phone calls from APOKYN Call Center nurses who will:
    • Address any questions and concerns that patients may have
    • Provide support to help them with their therapy
  • Information and materials designed to:
    • Help them get the most from APOKYN therapy
    • Help them manage their Parkinson's disease

Home Healthcare Visits (Option 3)
One-on-one Home Healthcare visits are provided by specially trained, licensed, insured, and state‑certified nurses.

Home Healthcare visits are available to all patients initiated on APOKYN—at no cost to the patients, their healthcare professionals, or their insurance companies.

Home Healthcare visits must be requested by a healthcare professional.

APOKYN Home Healthcare nurses:
  • Offer additional patient education on the use of the APOKYN pen and what to expect from APOKYN therapy
  • Perform dose escalations as recommended by the healthcare professional to help patients obtain a response equivalent to their usual response to levodopa
  • Ensure that patients are administering the dose of APOKYN recommended by the healthcare professional
  • Monitor blood pressure
  • Answer questions and remind patients about the APOKYN Call Center
  • Communicate the outcome of their visits to the Home Healthcare coordinator, who will issue a comprehensive report to the prescribing healthcare professional via fax within 24 hours of the visit

90% of patients achieved a therapeutic response within 20 minutes that was approximately equivalent to their usual response to levodopa (n=20). APOKYN is used as needed to treat off-episode motor symptoms, including muscle stiffness, slow movements, and difficulty starting movements, associated with advanced PD.
